Social media plays an important role in today’s real estate market. Homes buyers use the internet as the first step in their home search process rather than calling a real estate office. The internet and social media let them search for homes, view pictures and floorplans, get recommendations from friends, and learn about new neighborhoods all from the comfort of their home or office. So, the internet is the perfect place to promote real estate and catch the attention of people actively looking to purchase a new home.

So, it’s important your real estate agent has the right tools and marketing plans to implement a social media plan to your specific needs. Here are some questions to ask when you’re considering a real estate agent to sell your home.

  • Will photos be taken of my home? If so, how will they be used in marketing?
  • How quickly do you respond to buyer questions?
  • Will you do an open house? If so, how will it be promoted?
  • How do you use video?
  • What social media apps do you use?
  • Will my home have its own website?

Recently, PropertySpark conducted a survey of Washington, D.C. real estate agents to see which ones effectively leveraged all social media channels to gain an advantage over the U.S. capital’s real estate market.
