Home buyers today face plenty of challenges, but one of the toughest can be deciding which neighborhood is right for them. Even if you’re just relocating from Maryland to Virginia or in or out Washington, it can be difficult to get a feel for what it’s like to live in a different community.
The stakes are higher if you’re moving to an area you’ve never even visited. Now Realtor.com and Airbnb have partnered to help you find a place to spend a night or two or even a week or more so you can do a trial run of a neighborhood where you think you might want to live. They compare the experience to test-driving a car.
To get started, you can search Realtor.com for homes in a neighborhood you’re considering. Once you click on a particular home for the details, you can scroll down to a spot above the map feature and find Airbnb accommodations close to that home or at least in the neighborhood. You can click on it to reserve a stay and then get a sense of what it might be like to live there.
To launch the partnership, Realtor.com and Airbnb are giving away $500 to one winner each week through Aug. 25 to use for an Airbnb stay.
